In short
- Debt Payoff Planner has no account, no sign in, no bank login and no server of our own. The debts, balances and plans you type never reach us.
- Everything you enter is stored only on your phone.
- There are no ads in the app and no analytics or tracking tools.
- An optional one time purchase (Pro) is handled entirely by Google Play.
- You can export your plans to a file you choose, and import them back. The app doesn't upload that file anywhere.
1. Who we are
Debt Payoff Planner: Snowball (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is published by manextapps. This policy explains how the Android app handles information. If you have a question, see Contact.
2. About the app
You type in your debts (a name, the balance, the APR and the minimum payment) and one extra amount you can pay each month. The app works out when you'd be debt free with the snowball method and with the avalanche method, how much interest each one costs, and every monthly payment until each debt is paid off. All of that is calculated on your phone. The app works offline. It uses the internet only for the optional purchase and when you choose to open a link, such as this policy.
The app is a calculator. It doesn't give financial advice and it doesn't connect to your bank or to any lender.
3. Data we collect
None. We, the developer, don't run a server for this app and we don't collect, receive or store personal data about you. There's no account, no analytics, no crash reporting tool of our own, no advertising and no Firebase.
The optional purchase goes through Google Play, which is explained in section 6.
If you email us, we'll receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply, and we keep it only as long as that takes.
4. Data stored on your phone
So the app can work, it saves the following on your phone. None of it is sent to us.
- Your plans: the names you give your debts, their balances, APRs and minimum payments, the extra payment, the first payment month, the payoff method and any custom order.
- Settings: show cents, sound, haptics, reduced motion, and whether Pro was unlocked by a purchase.
Google's billing library also keeps some information on your phone so the purchase works correctly.
5. Export and import files
When you tap Export, Android asks you where to save a small JSON file with your plans. You pick the place, for example your phone's storage or a cloud drive app. The file then lives wherever you saved it and follows that service's own terms. When you tap Import, you choose a file and the app reads it on your phone. The app doesn't send these files anywhere and doesn't ask for storage permission; Android's file picker gives it access to just the file you choose.
The file holds your debts in plain text. Keep it somewhere you trust.
6. In app purchase
You can buy a one time Pro upgrade. It isn't a subscription. The purchase is made through Google Play Billing: Google handles the payment and your payment details, and we never see them. The app only receives confirmation from Google Play that Pro belongs to your Google account, so it can turn on the Pro features and restore them on another phone (Settings, Restore purchase).
Google's billing library may send technical information about the purchase process (for example whether the billing service connected) to Google so Google can run and improve Play Billing. Google's handling of purchases is described in the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play terms.
7. Android permissions
Debt Payoff Planner doesn't ask you for runtime permissions such as location, camera, contacts or storage. The installed app includes the following permissions, which are added by Google's billing library and AndroidX:
- Google Play billing (
com.android.vending.BILLING): lets the app offer the optional purchase. - Internet access and network state: used by the billing library to talk to Google Play.
- An internal receiver permission (
com.manextapps.debtpayoff.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION): added by AndroidX so that only this app can send messages to its own parts. It gives no access to your data.
8. Children
Debt Payoff Planner is made for adults planning how to pay off their own debts. It isn't directed at children, and the app doesn't collect personal information from anyone.
9. Data retention and deletion
- Our servers: we have none, so we keep no copy of your data.
- On your phone: you can delete a debt or a whole plan inside the app. Everything else stays until you clear the app's data in Android settings or uninstall the app.
- Exported files: they stay where you saved them until you delete them.
- Google: purchase records are kept by Google Play under Google's policies. See the Google Privacy Policy and How Google retains data.
10. Device backup
The app lets Android's backup feature include your plans and settings, so they can come back if you set up a new phone. If backup is on in your device settings, Android may store this data in your Google Account backup or move it during a phone to phone transfer, under Google's terms and your device settings. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings, and the export file is there if you'd rather keep your own copy.
11. Sharing and links
We don't sell or share your personal data, because we never receive any. Apart from Google Play Billing, the app sends information only when you choose to:
- Export your plans: the file goes to the place you pick, as described in section 5.
- Open a link, such as this privacy policy. This policy is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security purposes under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. This page uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts.
- Contact us: the app opens your email app with our address filled in. You decide what to send.
12. Security
Because we don't collect your data, there's no copy of it on our side to protect or lose. Data inside the app is protected by Android's app sandbox. An exported file is only as safe as the place you save it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, 5741 (1981), and U.S. state privacy laws may give you rights over your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a data protection authority.
Since we hold no personal data about you, in most cases there's nothing for us to access or delete. Your data is on your phone and you can delete it as described in section 9. You can always contact us, and we'll help as far as we can.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if the app or the services it uses change. We'll post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also try to let you know, for example in the app's release notes.
